We will meet in Stinson’s Café, next Thursday, May 4, at 9am. We will install our new Board
members, say goodbye to our exiting Board members, award the Volunteer of the Year,
approve next year’s budget and lots more!




We will also have a brief, special presentation by our community partner, Explore Horizons
titled, “What is the Summer Slide?”. Hear how you can make reading and writing fun over the summertime so your kids can grow into fearless learners! A timely topic with summer only 5 weeks away!! Don’t miss out on this informative presentation.




Coffee and light refreshments will be served and are graciously provided by 7-Eleven and
Explore Horizons.




Bring a friend and as always, young children are welcome.

 2017-18 PTA Open Board and Committee Positions Available

 
Room Parent Coordinators

Room Parent Coordinator (1 person): Supervises overall efforts of room parents and class parties for grades K-5.

  • Secures room parents for each classroom and Grade Level Coordinators for each grade (Aug/Sept) and conducts training/kick off meeting (Oct)
  • Provides feedback and approvals for each grade’s party plan.
  • Plans and organizes one school-wide service project for February party
  • Must be present on-campus from 10am-2:30pm to spot check all 3 class parties.
  • Communicates PTA news and volunteer needs to room parent team as needed.

 

Grade Level Coordinator (2 people/grade): Supervises overall efforts of the room parents and 3 class parties for their grade.

  • Works with room parents to plan and organize 3 class parties. (Dec, Feb, June)
  • Prepares grade level party plan, manages budget, and delegates details to each room parent team in their grade.
  • Communicates PTA news and volunteer needs to room parent team as needed.

 
 
 
 
 

The Back to School Family Picnic is the first big event of the school year! It’s FREE and will have food, fun and games from our community partners!


Timing: Mid-September (4 hour event)

 

Back to School Picnic Co-Chair (1 person)
  • Works with other Co-Chair (Mrdool Patel), Community Partners Chair (Elaine Villarreal) and Picnic Committee to plan and organize the details of the event.
  • Contacts local businesses to attend and set up display tables/games (ex. Fire/Police Dept, Bike Mart, Boy Scouts, etc)
  • Organizes bike obstacle course, fun run, other games as determined by committee.
  • Advertising and scheduling volunteers

 

Back to School Picnic Committee (3 people)
  • Responsible for coordinating Picnic details including: advertising, event set-up and staffing.  

 

 

 

 

 

This is our largest fundraiser of the year! The money provides educational and enrichment programs for our students including field trips, technology, Book Fair, and class parties while also funding teacher classroom wish lists and appreciation events.

We need YOUR help to make the 2017-18 Online Auction the best yet

Tentatively Scheduled: Feb/March 2018

 

Auction Chair (2 people)

  • Supervises overall efforts of the Auction committee.
  • Conducts meetings as needed to ensure team is on schedule.
  • Manages post-auction distribution of items to winners.

 

Solicitation Committee (7-8 people)
  • Requests and collects donations from local businesses online or in person.
  • Also secures unique experiences, Teacher Times and “Buy Now” Parties.
  • (August – January as individual schedules allow).

 

Advertising Committee (3 people)
  • Creates all advertising as needed to communicate auction details to students and their parents from October - February.  (e-news, flyers, social media, display case features, morning announcements, etc).

 

Business Team: (1-2 people)
  • Catalogues all donated items and enters item information (pictures/description) on the auction website (BiddingForGood.com).
  • Conducts “Letters to Stinson Students’ Loved Ones Campaign” in October.

 

 

 

Stinson PTA will offer Spirit Wear items, both online and at school events, for the 2017-18 school year.

Items for sale will include: Stinson t-shirt, Stinson hoodie, grade level t-shirts, camp shirts (for 5th graders) and more.

 

Spirit Wear Chair (1 person)

  • Works with selected vendor(s) to create Spirit Wear and related items for sale throughout the school year.  
  • Key periods include: Back to School, Holiday and 5th Grade Camp.

 

Spirit Wear Committee (2-3 people)

Members will advertise and distribute Spirit Wear online and at these Stinson events:

  • Meet the Teacher Day (August)                         •   Curriculum Nights (August)                    
  • Back to School Family Picnic (September)        •  Open House (Spring 2018)
  • Kindergarten Roundup (Spring 2018)

 

 

 

PTA After School Enrichment Programs are  offered each semester for an additional fee to all students. An average of 175 kids each semester participate in classes like LEGO by Play-Well, USA Chess, Mad Science, Drama Kids & Young Rembrandts.

PTA’s ability to offer these programs depends on the involvement of our volunteer team who does  everything except teach the classes to ensure they meet our high standard of success!

 

PTA After School Programs Co-Chairs (2 people) Leads overall efforts for After School Enrichment Programs. Involved in key planning meetings and program evaluation with Stinson office staff, vendors and committee members.

 

Vendor Research & Recommendation (3-5 people)

Responsible for researching vendor programs and providing recommendations to committee for selection.

 

Advertising  & Volunteer Recruitment (3-4 people)

Creates all advertising to communicate program details and recruit parent volunteers to sign up for the After School Programs. (flyers, e-flyers, social media, morning announcements, etc). Helps train new volunteers.

 

On-Site Coordinator(s): (2-3 people per semester)

Main point-of-contact between the vendors, parent volunteers, Stinson office staff and students/parents to ensure success. Must be present on campus from 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm for each week of the 8-week program. No teaching required
